Word on the Street is. . .

I love checking out street style for random inspiration and really to see how real people illustrate their version of trends. This pic is of model Tanja Gacic, who is working the current boyish trend to the max...! She has mastered androgyny perfect, while still keeping it feminine and fresh with Balmain heels and a pop of red lippy. The oversized blazer is to die for and were seen allllll over Stella Mc Cartney SS11.  Overall a street style winner for me . . .

Dazzling in DKNY. . .

Olivia Palermo just cannot do any wrong. She is literally glowing in this DKNY number. The dress is of course bang on trend with the pleating detailing and colour blocking, while she teams it with another pop of colour via her fushia clutch and nails. It's a very boho look for sure, but we do normally see her in very flowing outfits, which gives a relaxed and effortless feel to her outfits. Her jewellery adds a new dimension to her outfit, which is no surprise as statement pieces are really her signature. After all we are dealing with a girl from the City. . .

Seeing Blue. . . ACNE AW11

Absolutely loving ACNE''s Autumn/ Winter collection, which features so many textures and shapes including  (blue!) leather trousers, striped knits and tee''s, jersey dresses and cosy full length coats. Cobalt blue and jewelled tones in general are massive for next season, with the highsteet sporting looks already! I saw a great blue suede/ leather mini skirt in H&M yesterday which I was reminded of when I first saw this collection. So you know what to do! Get your smurf on!

Simply: French Style. . .

I don't know what it is, but I'm OBSESSED with French style, culture, cuisine, the whole works! Perhaps it originated from my many holidays there, or that some of my favourite designers are French~ Isabel Marant, The Kooples, Chanel? Anyway its what I call The French allure and I'm drawn in! What I love is that people in France dress so simple, yet its effortless. Try the synonomous Breton top. Seriously who doesn't have one? Its a staple for style queens Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller and looks great on really anyone. When I was in Brittany, every age wore the breton: kids, adults, even the elderly. Style a la francais is natural, which is why (for obvious reasons) I follow a good few French blogs. Two of my favourites are Adeline Rapon and Une Armoire pour Deux. The image above is taken from the blog of 21 year old Parisian Adeline, whos style combines all the effortless elements described. I love this look. A white top worn alone with denim is such a classic look and you can never go wrong with it. Throw in a black bolder hat and rock boots and you have a look that screams I just threw this on this morning! This simple way of dressing is one which I shall try put a spin on myself. Will keep you updated with the results. . .C'est ca!

Leopard print is forever. . .

Topshop Chelsea boot

So snakeskin is obviously the new leopard print thanks to Prada, Chloe, Gucci, Valentino and practically most shows from Autumn/ Winter '11/12. So why am I still willing to spend fifty beans on these Chelsea leopard print boots? Well just look at them, they're amazing and I've been lurking after a pair for yonks. Topshop did past versions of this Chelsea boot with a midi heel, so it was only a matter of time before they brought back the style. I've been keeping an eye out and while browsing through my fellow blogger's blogs (original) I found them on Kit-Kat-Kitty-Kat's blog so thank you! They also come in plain black and zebra print which are pretty cool for the adventurous. Is it just me or is the animal world is really taking over. . .?!

Tempted to buy both!

Plain jane anyone?

Is that a Mama Do..??

I wasn't expecting this at all, but Pixie Lott has gone for the chop and I lOvE it! A girl who loved her long locks has now gone for an edgier, more rock chick look, completely transforming her previous girly style. Is her new do a bit mammy-ish...? Not at all. Her peroxide cut shapes her face perfectly and the tousled give a relaxed, bed head look which is one which I adore. Her flirty white lace dress is bang on trend, reminisent of Dolce & Gabbana and Erdem Spring/Summer '11, while working this monochrome look with black shoeboots and bag...nice!

These Boots are Made for Buyin'....!

Kate Bosworth in outfit #1 with her 'Dicker' suade boots. . .

Outfit #2. . .

Isabel Marant dicker suade boots. I am in lOvE! There is just one problem. 1) I cannot find them anywhere on the internet and 2) if I did they would be well over my price range. Well at least I can gaze at them wishfully as I see Kate Bosworth practically living in them~ and when I say living in them I really do mean it! She teams them with every outfit whether its shorts, skinnies, dresses what have you. It is great though to see a celebrity getting so much wear out of a single pair of boots when really, Miss Bosworth could afford a pair in every colour/size/shape! It is my duty now to bring a lookalike/ highstreet version into my life and I will not let any forces come against me on my mission! Watch this space. . .

Vanessa from The Man Repeller shows us the black version...oh want!

Awaiting an arrival to my Wardrobe. . .

A/wear's 'Sweet Sixties' vintage cardi. . .

Although we're still in the middle of Summer, I cannot help but be excited about key pieces I shall buy for Autumn/Winter. I am adament that this vintage~style cardigan from A/wear's Sweet Sixties collection will drift into my life! Not only does it look oh so cosy, but it is oozing with autumnal, rusty hues. With the extensive detailing, this cardigan won't need much but a pair of denims, a plain tee and a pop of colour~of which I've realised I tend to say alot! At €40 you can't go wrong and even better with a 10% student discount. . .

One day I went shopping. . .

~ Due to the fact that I live in the middle of the countryside, specifically: the middle of no where, and I don't drive (yet!) shopping during the summer is a slightly rare occurrence for me. So when yesterday I went for a spot of retail therapy, I really did splurge...! So I decided to give me aul blog a new umph and post what I bought for the whole blog world to see. . .well. . .

P.S: Please excuse the photo quality. I'm not a high tec peep and my camera is just a digital one so the colours mightn't be right on the nail.... but close enough!

Ok so these are cropped blouses from a shop called Catch in Manor Mills shopping centre, Maynooth. They were just €10 each, down from €25 so I could not resist buying them in both cobalt blue and beige! What a bargain they were...! Whats great about these is that you can wear them either buttoned up to the neck like so on the right or (my favourite) keep a few top buttons open and roll up the sleeves for a more relaxed feel. Also they are so versatile: you can either wear them full on cropped or else throw a plain white tee under them, buttons open or closed if you're not brave enough to show some skin...!

This Topshop collared purple stripe vest top is amazing and at just €36 too...! I first saw it on one of my good friends (whose name is also Nicola!) and I had to buy it...sharing is caring right? Nicola teamed hers with light blue skinnies, heels and a neon oversized clutch for a night time look, but you could just as easily wear it for a daytime look too. I would pair it with denim cutoffs and tan loafers/ gladiator sandals and maybe a pop of colour, like the Pennys box bag which is coming up. . .

Ever since I did my post on pleated skirts I've been dying to get my hands on one..! This H&M design was just €12.95~ how much more affordable can you get? You could really team it with any of the colours in it and would be perfect to dress up or down. I can so see myself bringing this into winter with some black tights and a cosy cardigan. . .

These heels are my new FAVOURITE pair...! They are Pennys and not only that but they cost me €9...yes! That's what I said 9EURO!! Amazing value, down from €23. Obviously pastel colours are huge this season, seen all over Dior couture and these heels are so Burberry Prorsum...! The draped effect is of course a signature which makes these cheap as chips heels look that bit more!

This is my first playsuit and I <3 it! Not just that but it was only €13 sale price at Catch! Need I say anymore??

Just incase you thought the last picture looked like a dress...you can clearly see here those are shorts, damn camera!

This is another Pennys purchase and it is also a new fav! It came in at just €9 and will do me for day/ night, yes I see a pattern here! I do love those pieces which you can go for casual or dressy. The only negative thing about this bag (and its small!) is that I wish it was a bit bigger! But it's petite and compact so I will just be packing essentials...!

This Pennys (again!) collared jersey top is just like the Topshop one mentioned except it was less than a quarter of the price! At just €10, this emerald top is slightly darker in real life if you like and also comes in purple, pink and blue. I would pair it with the jeans which are coming up also and lots of gold jewellery...! Love these style tops and they seem to be everywhere lately...

Again the quality of the photo is quite poor but these are high~waisted maroon/burgandy Vero Moda skinnies. For me, these were an example of when you see something and automatically buy without looking at the pricetag or even by looking at the pricetag and not caring what price is !! However and thankfully for my bank balance, these were not too costly at €35. Alexa Chung was spotted in a pair of jeans this colour and featured in one of my first posts My Next Purchase: Coloured Jeans... I've tried these with a cropped/ tied top and looks great with heels! Will bring me right into winter also, which is a plus with Irish weather!

No prize for guessing where this clutch is from...yep you guessed Pennys! All over the catwalks, models were holding bags right under their arm so clutches are bang on trend and when you can get this at €8 you can't go wrong!

~Ok so after doing this post I've realised I probably won't be going shopping for another while. . .well. . .

Snaking into our Wardrobes. . .

Valentino's boots snaking just below the knee...
Prada snakeskin rusty clutch, hold tight!

Snakeskin accessories were the dominant motifs for the Ready-to-wear Autumn~Winter 2011/12 Prada and Valentino shows. A 'pop of python' as dibbed in the August issue of British Vogue gives an edgy dimension to any outfit and adds a bit of texture also. The trend was seen in many colours including deep maroons, mustards and gorgeous autumnal rusty hues. Try stick to one snakeskin accessorie, otherwise you will end up looking like a reptile...! I've had a search online for key pieces and found them in the form of scarves, bags, purses, belts and kitten heels, so get your snake on now!

Love this Zara python scarf for 22.95 euro. . .

River Island tote at a pricey average €60, but the quality is a guarantee!

A/wear midi heels down from €69 to €20...bargain...!

Can't go wrong with A/Wear's sale €8 belt for that python pop. . .

Chanel Couture. . .

So after I finally got over not being invited to the Chanel 2011/12 Winter Couture show, I nearly died when images were realised today of the spectacle. Oh. My. God. It was some show for one show...! I actually cannot express how much I loved every single piece in the collection. It was pure stunning. Normally I would state six pictures as the limit to my posts, but there is no limit for Chanel...! Not only was the setting magical, with a dark, romantic, sparkling streetlight affect (with actual streetlights!) but so was the couture. There were sooo many textures, including a fabulous cream silk dress, which if you were to eat, t'wud melt in your mouth! Aside from the signature monochrome classic, there were vibrant purples which came in the form of taylored jackets and silk dresses~swept to the centre, tied by a gorgeous jewell. What I loved most about the pieces was the fishtail detailing, and there was alot! It gave a real glamorous, figure-hugging affect not only in the floor length dresses, but also in the structured skirts, with beautiful flower detailing as well. There were sequinces, lace, feathers and a huge amount of sheer pieces, which I think is going to be an overall huge trend. Lets not forget the boots which had the signature patent toecap detailing, with the boot extending well above the knee! I also loved the boater hats worn by some of the models, which were so chic...! As we all know whatever nail colour Chanel has painted on all the lovelies fingernails, that shalt be thy colour of the season! Annnnd it is navy, which I love and is a more modern alternative to black. To top off one of my favourite shows of the year, all the usual front row Chanelettes were present, including Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevigneand Diane Kruger. Karl Lagerfeld I salute you...! Merci beaucoup...!!

This was my favourite piece of the collection...amazing

Ooooh La La: Dior Couture. . .

Paris Fashion Week commenced with a bang thanks to the Dior Couture show. Bill Gaytten appears to have taken the desired creative spot of John Galliano~ who everyone knows is undergoing an extremely negative time in the press of late due to his ongoing court case. Nonetheless (and on a brighter note!) the show was bursting with an aray of designs. We saw everything from pretty pastels, classic black& white shapes, stripes and lines to volumptous, flowing couture dresses. There was taylored jackets, dripping with metalic materials and paired with either flowing layered skirts or structered pleated midi's which were reminiscent of Louis Vuitton's 2010/11 Winter collection. These were teamed with a pop of green mint nails and strappy heels, tied at the ankle. All the controversy surrounding Dior's ex creative director were definately brushed aside, with this flamboyant collection. Cannot wait to see what the rest of PFW has to with~hold...!
